Cleary Gottlieb Wins Human Rights First’s Frankel Award

July 30, 2013

Cleary Gottlieb has been awarded Human Rights First’s 2013 Marvin E. Frankel Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service. The award was presented at a reception held at the firm’s New York office on July 29.

Each year, Human Rights First honors the memory of Judge Marvin E. Frankel, a founding father of Human Rights First, by presenting an award in his name to law firms who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to human rights-related pro bono representation. Under his leadership, Human Rights First developed a nationally recognized pro bono program through which lawyers in New York and Washington now represent more than 1,000 refugees from more than 80 countries in their asylum proceedings. The award, established in 2002, pays tribute to lawyers and law firms for outstanding pro bono work on behalf of refugees seeking asylum.
