Freeman Chan is a partner based in the Hong Kong office.
Mr. Chan’s practice focuses on corporate finance, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and IPOs of Hong Kong and PRC corporations on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and stock exchanges in the PRC and the U.S. He is a deputy chairman of the "Takeovers and Mergers Panel" and a member of the "Takeovers Appeal Committee" of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong.

Mr. Chan joined the firm as a partner in January 2011. Prior to joining Cleary Gottlieb, Mr. Chan was a partner at another international law firm in Hong Kong. He received a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1984.
Mr. Chan is a solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong and a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. He is fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
