William B. McGurn is senior counsel at the firm.
Mr. McGurn has an international practice, focusing on international litigations and arbitrations and cross-border acquisitions and joint ventures.
Mr. McGurn joined the firm in 1972 and was a partner from 1981 to 2011. He was resident in the firm's Washington and Paris offices for several years before moving to Paris from 1986 to 2001. From 2001 to 2011, Mr. McGurn worked in firm's Rome office, and he returned to the Washington office in 2012. He received a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1972 and an undergraduate degree from Yale University. He is a graduate of the Rome’s Lycée Chateaubriand. Prior to attending law school, Mr. McGurn served as Lieutenant in the United States Sixth Fleet.
Mr. McGurn is a past president of the American Chamber of Commerce in France, and serves as a director of various non-profit organizations.
Mr. McGurn is a member of the Bar in Washington, D.C. and an honorary member of the Paris Bar. He is a native English speaker and is fluent in Italian and French.
