Richard deC. Hinds is senior counsel based in the Washington, D.C. office.
Mr. Hinds’ practice focuses on international trade law and litigation. His international trade practice includes advising both domestic and foreign clients concerning the application of antidumping and countervailing duty laws in the United States, and advising clients on U.S. Export Control and Sanction Regulations. In addition to international trade matters, his litigation practice also encompasses product liability and environmental regulatory issues. Mr. Hinds is a co-author of "Chapter 27 - Toxic Substances Control Act" in Matthew Bender’s Environmental Law Practice Guide.
Mr. Hinds joined the firm in 1973 and became a partner in 1977. Prior to joining the firm, he served as special assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Trade Affairs in the U.S. Treasury Department from 1971 to 1973. Mr. Hinds received an LL.B. degree, cum laude, from Columbia University in 1967 and was an editor of the Columbia Law Review from 1966 to 1967. He received an undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Tufts University in 1964. Mr. Hinds also served as law clerk to Judge Leonard P. Moore of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1967 to 1968.
Mr. Hinds is a member of the Bars in the District of Columbia and New York. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the American Law Institute.
