Matthew Gurgel is an associate based in the New York office.

Mr. Gurgel's practice focuses on litigation.

Mr. Gurgel joined the firm in 2010.  He received a J.D. degree from the Columbia University School of Law in 2009, where he was a James Kent Scholar and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and was Executive Articles Editor of the Columbia Law Review. He received a master's degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2001 and an undergraduate degree from Harvard University in 1994. From 2009 to 2010, Mr. Gurgel served as law clerk to the Honorable Debra Ann Livingston of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  From 1994 to 2005, he served as a surface warfare officer and nuclear engineer in the United States Navy.

Mr. Gurgel is a member of the Bar of New York and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District and Southern District of New York.
