Grant M. Binder is counsel based in the New York office.
Mr. Binder’s practice focuses on domestic and international business and financing transactions. Mr. Binder has advised private and public sector clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity investments and project financings. Mr. Binder has substantial experience in the energy and mining industries.
Mr. Binder has been recognized as a leading mergers and acquisitions lawyer by The Legal 500 U.S.
and has acted as counsel in numerous M&A transactions. He recently advised Coca-Cola FEMSA in its acquisition of a 51% stake in Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. from The Coca-Cola Company; and Warburg Pincus and General Atlantic in their agreement with Banco Santander to acquire a jointly-held 50% stake in Santander’s global asset management business.
Mr. Binder’s project and corporate finance work includes advising Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile (CODELCO), the Chilean state-owned copper company, in connection with the financing of its investment in Anglo American Sur S.A.; Grupo Radio Cento, S.A.B. de C.V. in the refinancing of its secured syndicated loan facility; Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), the Mexican state-owned oil and gas company, in its US$700 million bridge financing and other syndicated loan agreements; and Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), the Mexican state-owned electric utility, in its US$1.25 billion revolving credit facility.
Capital markets transactions in which Mr. Binder advised include the landmark US$385 million initial public offering of the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (the Mexican Stock Exchange) and numerous bond offerings by PEMEX, CFE and CODELCO.
Mr. Binder joined the firm in 2003 and became counsel in 2012. He received a J.D. degree, cum laude
, from New York University School of Law in 2003, where he was Executive Editor of the New York University Journal of International Law and Politics
, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in 1996.
