Grant M. Binder is counsel based in the New York office.
Mr. Binder’s practice focuses on capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. He concentrates on cross-border transactions, principally in Latin America.
Mr. Binder has been recognized as a leading mergers and acquisitions lawyer by The Legal 500 U.S
Mr. Binder has handled significant M&A transactions, including the following recent transactions:
- Warburg Pincus and General Atlantic in their agreement with Banco Santander to acquire a jointly-held 50% stake in Santander’s global asset management business;
- Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile, the Chilean state-owned copper company, in connection with its investment in Anglo American Sur S.A.; and
- Coca-Cola FEMSA in its acquisition of a 51% stake in Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. from The Coca-Cola Company.
Mr. Binder has also represented Citi Venture Capital International (CVCI), Enfoca Inversiones, HSBC, McDonald’s, TPG Capital, and Vale in M&A transactions in Latin America.
Capital markets transactions in which Mr. Binder advised include the landmark $385 million initial public offering of the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (the Mexican Stock Exchange) and numerous bond offerings by Pemex, CFE and Codelco.
Mr. Binder also regularly participates in bank finance assignments and provides advice on corporate governance matters.
Mr. Binder joined the firm in 2003 and became counsel in 2012. He received a J.D. degree, cum laude
, from New York University School of Law in 2003, where he was Executive Editor of the New York University Journal of International Law and Politics, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in 1996.
Mr. Binder is a member of the Bar in New York. His native language is English, and he is proficient in Spanish.
