Hanno Sperlich is a partner based in the Frankfurt office.
Mr. Sperlich’s practice focuses on securities and corporate law. He advises in particular on capital market transactions (e.g. IPOs, secondary placements and rights offerings) and M&A transactions (including public takeovers). Mr. Sperlich is distinguished by various publications (
JUVE,
Chambers Global,
Chambers Europe) as one of the leading equity capital markets lawyers in Germany.
Recently, he for example advised Deutsche Bank in its €10.2 billion rights offering in 2010 (the then largest equity offering in Germany since 2000) and the underwriters in the IPOs of VTG and Wacker Construction Equipment. He also advised STRABAG SE on its IPO on the Vienna Stock Exchange (the then largest IPO ever on the Vienna Stock Exchange). Furthermore, Mr. Sperlich advised on the acquisition of BHW by Deutsche Postbank, the business combination of HypoVereinsbank and UniCredit, the rights offerings of TUI (2005) and HypoVereinsbank (2004) and the IPO of Bank Austria Creditanstalt (2003).
Mr. Sperlich joined the firm in 1998 and became a partner in 2006. He was resident in the New York office from 1998 to 1999. Mr. Sperlich received an LL.M. degree from the University of London in 1998. He passed the second state examination in the State of Hamburg in 1997 and the first state examination at the University of Hamburg in 1993. From 1992 to 1996, he worked as a research and teaching assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and Private International Law in Hamburg.
Mr. Sperlich is a member of the Bar in Frankfurt am Main. His native language is German, and he is fluent in English.
