John S. Magney’s practice focuses on U.S. and EC competition, particularly in connection with mergers, licensing and distribution matters.

He has participated in antitrust litigation related to the Sherman, Clayton and Robinson-Patman Acts, as well as patent and other intellectual property issues. He also has extensive experience in criminal antitrust matters, including several international cartel cases. He lectures and is widely published on antitrust topics.

John joined the firm in 1975, became a partner in 1981 and became senior counsel in 2008. From 1994 to 1997, he was resident in the Brussels office. Prior to joining the firm, John was a trial attorney with the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

He is also a member of the Antitrust Section and the Clayton Act Section 7 Committee of the American Bar Association.
