Washington: Mentoring

The Associates Committee, comprised of partners, oversees the different mentoring programs for the Washington office.

To begin, all associates are assigned a partner mentor. This program is designed to give associates the opportunity to speak with a senior lawyer about professional and career development, along with other related subjects. Partner and associate pairings are intended to meet several times a year. Newly arriving associates are also assigned an “associate” advisor who serves as a resource both during initial orientation and on an ongoing basis during the associate's first year.

These established mentoring programs are complemented by other activities in the office. Throughout the year, the office hosts a lunch for all lawyers ("Lawyers Lunch") every other Friday. In addition, the office holds a Wine and Cheese gathering for lawyers every other Thursday, on alternating weeks. These informal social events provide our lawyers with the opportunity to get together, outside of the day-to-day work environment.
