The Firmwide Associates Committee, made up of partners from each office, has primary responsibility for all aspects of associate life at the firm. The Washington members of the Associates Committee manage the work assignment process to ensure that all Washington associates receive the proper degree of training, mentoring, resources and feedback.
They also oversee the formal annual review process of associates. Associate reviews are based on a collaboration of written comments submitted by partners, counsel and senior attorneys about all associates with whom they have worked.
The Committee also assigns Washington associates to the firm’s overseas offices and reviews, monthly, the overall work flow of the office. The Associates Committee determines associate compensation and benefits, which are consistently at the top of the Washington market.
Each associate is assigned to a member of the committee who initiates an ongoing relationship with the associate and is responsible for giving annual reviews and overseeing that associate’s professional development.
