David I. Gottlieb is a partner based in the New York office.

Mr. Gottlieb’s practice focuses on public and private mergers and acquisitions with particular emphasis on cross-border transactions.  He also handles securities transactions and has extensive experience in the firm’s M&A and capital markets practices in Russia.  He also provides advice regarding governance matters and fiduciary duties of officers and directors to corporations and their boards.  Mr. Gottlieb was recently published.  His recent article, "Renouncing Corporate Opportunities in Spin-offs, Carve-Out IPOs and Private Equity Investments," appeared in the December 2003 issue of Insights.

Mr. Gottlieb joined the firm in 1995 and became a partner in 2003. From 1997-2000, he was resident in the London office.  Mr. Gottlieb received a J.D. degree, cum laude, in 1994 from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review, and an undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Yale University.  From 1994 to 1995, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Jon O. Newman, then Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Mr. Gottlieb is a member of the Bar in New York.  His native language is English, and he is proficient in French and Russian.
