Colin Pearson is a senior consultant in the London office.

Mr. Pearson advises on all aspects of intellectual property and information technology law with particular expertise in major M&A transactions, joint ventures, and exploitation of or grant of security over intellectual property assets, particularly with a transnational focus. He also advises on privacy (data protection) law and a broad range of commercial agreements.

Mr. Pearson has experience in a number of fields including life sciences, media and sport and high tech industries. Prior to joining Cleary Gottlieb in September 2009 Mr. Pearson was a partner in the corporate department of Allen & Overy, joining in 1997 and specializing in non-contentious intellectual property, IT and general TMT work.

Between 1976 and 1980 he was Senior Lecturer in Commercial (Mercantile) Law at the University of South Africa, and from 1981 to 1989 was a member of the Johannesburg Bar as a practising advocate (barrister) specializing in intellectual property law. From 1989 to 1994 Mr. Pearson practiced intellectual property litigation at Slaughter & May, and from 1994 to 1997 he specialized in intellectual property and general commercial work at the firm now known as Radcliffes LeBrasseur, becoming a partner in 1995.

He is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and is admitted as an Advocate (Barrister) before the High Court of South Africa.
