Russell H. Pollack is a partner based in the Moscow office.

Mr. Pollack's practice focuses on international mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and other financial and corporate matters, including project and structured finance, acquisition finance and joint ventures.  Mr. Pollack also has extensive experience in the oil and gas sector.

Recent M&A projects have included advising Mittal Steel on its successful tender and exchange offer for Arcelor, which involved the issuance of more than €20 billion of new Mittal Steel shares and more than €6 billion of acquisition finance, and advising Gazprom on arrangements with Eni SpA and Enel SpA relating to the acquisition of $6.0 billion of former Yukos assets.  Mr. Pollack was one of the founders of the firm’s Moscow office in 1991 and has worked on numerous M&A, capital markets and other transactions in and involving Russia since then.

Mr. Pollack joined the firm in 1979 and became a partner in 1988. He has been resident in the New York office from 1979 to 1981, from 1984 to 1988 and from 1996 to 2002, in the Frankfurt office from 1992 to 1996, in the Paris office from 1981 to 1984, from 1989 to 1992, from 2002 to 2006 and from 2009 to 2012, and in the Moscow office from 2006 to 2009. Mr. Pollack received a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia in 1978, an M.B.A. from the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) in 1975 and an undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1973. He also served as law clerk to the Honorable Robert A. Ainsworth, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Mr. Pollack is a member of the Bar in New York and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and as an avocat to the Paris Bar. Mr. Pollack's native language is English, and he is fluent in French and proficient in German.
