Cleary Gottlieb is proud to be a sponsor of the second annual New York Arbitration Week (NYAW), a virtual week-long event featuring various panels and networking events on a range of arbitration topics, geared towards the New York arbitration community.

Partner Jeffrey Rosenthal served as co-chair of the NYAW Organizing Committee, and partners Richard Kreindler and Ari MacKinnon were speakers on two separate panels on topics relating to non-signatories to arbitration agreements and the availability of discovery in international commercial arbitrations, respectively. Cleary associates Martha Vega-Gonzalez and Katie Gonzalez served as Secretaries of the NYAW Organizing Committee.

  • On Monday, November 16, Jeff and NYAW co-chair Stephanie Cohen provided opening remarks to welcome the global audience to the virtual program.
  • On Wednesday, November 18, Richard was a panelist in the feature program hosted by the New York Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the New York International Arbitration Center, titled Non-signatories Before and After Arbitration Compelling Arbitration – Enforcing Awards.
  • On Friday, November 20, as the concluding event of New York Arbitration Week, Ari participated as an advocate in a mock U.S. Supreme Court argument as part of the Fordham Conference on International Arbitration and Mediation entitled, “Does 28 U.S.C. § 1782 Apply to Private International Commercial Arbitrations? A Mock U.S. Supreme Court Argument.”

NYAW was hosted by the New York International Arbitration Center and the New York Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
