Brexit has transformed the enforcement of competition law in the UK, giving the UK Competition and Markets Authority parallel jurisdiction over transactions and conduct that were previously the exclusive competence of the European Commission.
Since Brexit took effect at the beginning of 2021, the Competition and Markets Authority has confirmed its position as one of the most active agencies in the world. At the same time, the UK is introducing a new regulatory regime for the digital sector and an expansive national security screening regime.
