Broadcom to Sell VMware End User Compute Business to KKR

March 5, 2024

Cleary Gottlieb is acting as global antitrust counsel to Broadcom Inc. (Broadcom) in its proposed sale of VMware’s End User Compute (EUC) division to the global investment firm KKR.

The transaction is valued at approximately $3.8 billion and is expected to close in 2024.

EUC provides digital workspace solutions that allow companies to securely manage applications, desktops, and data across endpoint devices. Under KKR, EUC will operate as a standalone company.

Broadcom is a global technology leader that designs, develops, and supplies a broad range of semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions. After completing its acquisition of VMware on November 2023, Broadcom is now also a leading provider of multicloud services for all apps, enabling digital innovation. After acquiring VMware, Broadcom organized the EUC division as an independent business division and expressed its intent to sell it.

KKR is a global investment firm that offers alternative asset management as well as capital markets and insurance solutions.
