It is an unofficial poll but one that hints at a bit of consensus in the nation's capital. Asked about Washington, the lawyers in our office answered unanimously: it can be an inspiring place to work.

Our offices are located within a remarkable few blocks. We are next door to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund and just a few blocks from the White House. A short cab ride takes you to Capitol Hill, and the Securities and Exchange Commission, Congress, the Supreme Court and several banking agencies.

Washington is also a livable city. Whether you ride the subway inside D.C. or commute by train from the Maryland or Virginia suburbs, it's an easy city to get to, and to navigate.

All of which makes Washington's consideration by Forbes Magazine come as no surprise: in 2010, the magazine ranked it as one of the top three cities for young professionals.
