Paris office associates who wish to practice abroad may request assignment to one of the firm's other offices. Historically, the duration of such assignments has ranged from six months to three years. They have generally been made after an associate has practiced for a period of time (generally one to two years) in his or her home office. Such arrangements are made on a case by case basis and whether they can be made depends on a number of factors, including the firm's needs both in the associate's home office and in the proposed foreign office where the assignment is sought. The firm strongly supports overseas assignments when the conditions to make them successful are met, as they contribute to a better and deeper integration of our practice and foster the professional growth of lawyers at the firm.
