Nicholas Levy is a partner based in the Brussels and London offices.
Mr. Levy’s practice focuses on EU and U.K. antitrust law. He has extensive experience in notifying mergers and joint ventures under the EU Merger Regulation, as well as coordinating the pan-European notification of international transactions with various national antitrust agencies, particularly the U.K. Office of Fair Trading.
Mr. Levy has been involved in many leading merger cases, including DuPont/ICI, P&G/VP Schickedanz, Kimberly-Clark/Scott Paper, Goodyear/Dunlop, Caterpillar/Perkins, Coca-Cola Enterprises/ABGB, Blokker/Toys “R” Us, Alcoa/Reynolds, General Electric/Honeywell, Sony/BMG, Inco/Falconbridge, Euronext/LSE, Abbott/Solvay Pharmaceutical, NYSE Euronext/Deutsche Börse, UTC/Goodrich, Lafarge/Anglo American, Sony/EMI Music Publishing, and Ryanair/Aer Lingus.
He has also been involved in a number of important proceedings before the EU Courts, including for IMS HEALTH, in its successful appeal of a Commission decision imposing interim measures, for BASF in its appeal of a Commission decision imposing record fines for alleged participation in the vitamins cartel, and for Sony and SONY BMG in their successful appeal to the Court of Justice of the Court of First Instance’s judgment annulling the Commission’s decision approving the formation of SONY BMG.
Mr. Levy has written and spoken widely on a broad array of European competition law issues, and has authored a two-volume treatise entitled
European Merger Control Law: A Guide to the Merger Regulation, published by LexisNexis. He is distinguished as a leading Competition/Antitrust lawyer by
Chambers Global and was included in
Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Competition and Antitrust Lawyers and
Global Competition Review’s “45 Under 45” and “40 Under 40” surveys of the world’s brightest young antitrust lawyers
. He was named Competition Lawyer of the Year by Legal Business Research

Mr. Levy joined the firm in 1990 and became a partner in 1999. He is a graduate of Oxford University and the City University of London.
