Rüdiger Harms is counsel based in the Cologne office.

Mr. Harms' work focuses on litigation and arbitration matters. He is active across the entire spectrum of commercial law, with a particular specialization in civil antitrust law.

Mr. Harms regularly acts as an adviser to a major film studio in disputes under contract law and in the implementation of strategic business decisions, all the way to court proceedings. Furthermore, Mr. Harms advises the Agfa-Gevaert Group in particular in various state and arbitration proceedings in connection with the sale of the Consumer Imaging division. Current clients and those most recently represented by Mr. Harms also include leading global IT service providers and software companies, UTC subsidiaries, a provider of industrial gases, an industry service provider in engineering and plant construction, and an internationally active mining group.

Prior to joining Cleary Gottlieb, Mr. Harms worked for some of the world's leading manufacturers of mobile telephones and hydraulic components, and numerous OEMs, in particular in the automotive and technology sectors.

Mr. Harms joined the firm in 2008 and became counsel in 2013. From 2008 to 2012, he was resident in our Frankfurt office. He passed his second state examination in the State of Hamburg in the year 2000 and the first state examination at the University of Göttingen in 1997. From 2006 to 2008 Mr. Harms worked as a judge at the Local Court of Hamburg. Previously, from 2000 to 2006 Mr. Harms was with another major international law firm in Düsseldorf, his last position as Counsel.

Mr. Harms is a member of the Bar in Cologne. His native language is German and he is fluent in English.
