Anne-Sophie Coustel is a partner resident in the Paris office.
Ms. Coustel's practice focuses on French and international tax law as well as complex M&A transactions. She also has extensive experience with employee stock offerings, employee benefit plans and management incentive packages.
Recent significant matters include advice to Lafarge in the contemplated sale of its European and Latin American gypsum business to Etex, to Veolia Environnement in the merger of Veolia Transport and Transdev, to Accor in the spinoff of its services business (Edenred) and to Sodiaal in its acquisition of Entremont Alliance.
Private equity transactions in which Ms. Coustel provided tax and corporate advice include the acquisition of Foncia Groupe by Bridgepoint and Eurazeo, the acquisition of CEPL by Arcapita, the acquisition of Kaufman&Broad by PAI and the acquisition of TDF by TPG and certain co-investors.
Ms. Coustel also advised ArcelorMittal in the two-step cross-border merger of Netherlands-based Mittal Steel Company NV and Luxembourg-based Arcelor, following the successful tender offer of Mittal Steel for Arcelor, in which Cleary advised Mittal Steel.

Ms. Coustel joined the firm in 2001 and became a partner in 2007. Prior to joining the firm, she was an associate at Jeantet & Associés where she worked since October 1996. Ms. Coustel graduated from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in 1996. Ms. Coustel also received a DESS in international tax law in 1996 and a Maîtrise in business law in 1998 from the law school of the University of Paris XI (Sceaux).
Ms. Coustel is a member of the Bar in Paris. Her native language is French, and she is fluent in English and proficient in German.
