Cleary Gottlieb recruits paralegals who are graduates of four year colleges and universities with strong academic backgrounds. Candidates should be detail-oriented, have excellent organizational ability and strong written and oral communication skills. Because many of our clients are multinational corporations and international institutions, we actively recruit individuals with foreign language capabilities, particularly Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Italian.
From its inception, the firm has strived to maintain a friendly and collegial atmosphere that makes our offices a positive and supportive place in which to work. We believe strongly in the desirability of a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination and harassment, where all of us observe the highest professional standards and treat each other with civility, respect and dignity. Consistent with these goals, the firm has a policy prohibiting any form of discrimination or harassment based on sex, race, color, religion, sexual orientation or preference, national origin, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, military status or any other category protected by law. This policy applies to all employment-related matters, including recruitment, hiring, placement, assignments, training, compensation, promotion and termination.
Our paralegal program is an essential element of the services we provide to our clients. The program is comprised of entry-level, mid-level, and senior paralegals with varied backgrounds and areas of expertise. For our entry-level positions, we welcome write-in applications from recent college graduates who are considering law school. We offer "on-the-job training" designed to help integrate new paralegals into various practice areas by pairing them with experienced paralegals and attorneys. The core paralegal groups are Corporate and Litigation. Within these core groups, paralegals are also offered the opportunity to assist attorneys in matters pertaining to Antitrust law, SEC Enforcement, Banking, Mergers and Acquisitions and Securities law. Our paralegals also assist with the firm's various pro bono projects.
