Key M&A transactions in which Pierre-Yves Chabert was involved include: Lafarge €700 million exchange of Cimpor shares for Brazilian assets of Votorantim in the context of CSN’s hostile takeover for Cimpor; BNP Paribas €14.7 billion acquisition of Fortis; Lafarge €15 billion acquisition of Orascom Cement; Rexel €3 billion takeover of Hagemeyer and resale of certain Hagemeyer’s assets to Sonepar; MittalSteel €27.9 billion hostile takeover of Arcelor; BNP Paribas/Semad €2.2 billion buyout of Group Galeries Lafayette; HAL Holding €600 million takeover of Grandvision; Crédit Lyonnais €19.5 billion merger into Crédit Agricole; Saipem €1 billion takeover of Bouygues Offshore; merger of Equant and Global One and €6.5 billion acquisition of 54.2% of Equant by France Telecom; Elf Aquitaine’s defense against the takeover bid launched by TotalFina including Elf’s pacman €50.8 billion offer for TotalFina; BNP €18 billon takeover of Paribas and €19 billion hostile offer for Société Générale.

IPOs and equity raising transactions in which Mr. Chabert was involved include the Accor/Edenred spinoff, the IPOs of CFAO (€1 billion), Gaz de France (€4.5 billion), Crédit Agricole (€3.4 billion), Euronext (€673 million), JC Decaux (€1 billion), Wanadoo (€1.9 billion), Equant (€3 billion) and rights offerings of Lafarge, Natixis, BNP Paribas, Société Générale, Arcelor, Veolia Environnement, Havas.

Mr. Chabert was recognized as "Lawyer of the Year" for capital market transactions on Best Lawyers' list of the best business lawyers in France, as "M&A Man of the Year" by Option Droit & Affaires, and as a top global M&A lawyer by L’Expansion. He is also named one of France’s "Leading Individuals" by Chambers Global under the following categories: Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions (ranked Star) and Capital Markets (ranked Star). The American Lawyer recognized Mr. Chabert as one of the "Dealmakers of the Year" for 2006, in connection with his role in the acquisition of Arcelor by Mittal Steel.

Mr. Chabert joined the firm in 1985 and became a partner in 1996. He received an LLM degree from Harvard Law School in 1988 and a Doctorat en droit (doctorate in law) in 1987. He graduated from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (H.E.C) in 1985.

Mr. Chabert is a member of the Paris Bar and the Bar in New York.
