Sophie de Beer’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions as well as on general corporate, financial, and banking regulatory matters.

Her experience includes private and public cross-border merger and acquisitions, partnerships, and transactions involving financial institutions such as banks, asset managers, and insurance companies. She is advising clients on corporate and regulatory aspects of their transactions. 

Sophie worked both in the Paris and New York offices of Cleary. She became counsel in the Paris office in 2005 and became partner in 2023.

  • BNP Paribas (BNPP), and its insurance subsidiary BNP Paribas Cardif, in the acquisition of a stake of approx. 9% in Ageas from Fosun Group.

  • Banking group My Money Group / CCF in the acquisition of HSBC Continental Europe’s retail banking operations in France and long-term commercial arrangements with HSBC Assurances Vie and HSBC Global Asset Management.

  • BNP Paribas Asset Management in its joint venture with ABC Wealth Management, a subsidiary of the Agricultural Bank of China, to launch a new wealth management joint venture in PRC, “BNP Paribas ABC Wealth”.
