Paolo Bertoli is an associate based in the Milan office.

Mr. Bertoli’s practice focuses on arbitration and litigation. Mr. Bertoli has participated in numerous international and domestic arbitrations involving complex commercial disputes as well as public international law issues, and in commercial, securities, and antitrust litigation in a variety of Italian courts. He has also acted as arbitrator under the Milan Chamber of Arbitration Rules. Mr. Bertoli is Professor of EU and International law at the University of Insubria (Como) and is widely published in major Italian and foreign law reviews on various aspects of public and private international law, and international civil procedure.

Mr. Bertoli joined the firm in 2005. He graduated summa cum laude from the Law School of the University of Milan in 2001 and received a Ph.D. in International Law from the same University in 2005. Mr. Bertoli was a visiting researcher at the Court of Justice of the European Communities in 2004 and at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg (Germany) in 2005, and a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University School of Law in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bertoli was an associate at the firm of Montanari e Associati in Milan. Mr. Bertoli is a member of the editorial board of the Rivista di diritto internazionale privato e processuale and of the Italian Society of International Law.

Mr. Bertoli has been a member of the Milan Bar since 2004. He is a native Italian speaker and is fluent in English and French.
